Kentuck ORV Trail
Munford, Alabama
Deep
in the heart of Dixie, the Kentuck ORV Trail in Munford, Alabama, has riding
for everyone on wheels, whether the vehicle of choice is an ATV, a motorcycle
or a mountain bicycle. Some of the trails have easy sections with gentle grades
and sweeping turns and fairly smooth surfaces. Other trails are more difficult,
with steeper grades, tight turns, rocks and obstacles. There are four separate
trails totaling 23 miles of riding through the Alabama woods.
Kentuck
ORV Trail is 61 miles east of Birmingham, Alabama, on Interstate-20. Take the
Oxford exit (No. 185) and go south on Highway 21 for 2.7 miles. Turn left onto
Buckhorn Road, which will T into McIntosh Road. Go left on McIntosh for a mile
to Kentuck Road; turn right on Kentuck for an additional 1.5 miles, then take
one last turn right on FR643 to the parking area.
Need more reasons to visit the area or need someone to ride with? The Cheaha Trail Riders are almost always there. And on the first weekend in April and November, the Cheaha Trail Riders holds its annual Family Fun Weekend, which have become very popular. The group also helps the U.S. Forest Service with its Adopt-A-Trail program, working to keep the trails open and maintained.

service ATVers perform on the trail system is called "Courtesy Patrol," to help
inform and educate riders while giving feedback to the Forest Service. For more

If you go
The Forest Service charges $5 per OHV, per day, to use the areas, and all money
collected stays at the Kentuck. Helmets must be worn by all riders, and OHVs
must have spark arrestors. No state OHV registration is required.
Camping
is allowed along the trail, but there are no designated camping sites. Facilities
available include picnic tables, grills and toilets. Those wishing to camp during
hunting season will need a camping permit, and should wear hunter orange for
their safety.
Plenty of major hotels and restaurants are located just 5 miles away in Oxford. Stay at the Super 8 in Anniston and use your ATVA discount.
