Champs Honored at ATVA Banquets

Some spectacular banquets honoring the best ATV racers in America capped the racing season, with probably the flashiest banquet held in Las Vegas.

It was a night for champions to shine on November 18, as the best and fastest ATVA and AMA Sports racers took to the stage at the Rio in Las Vegas to be honored by their peers at the AMA Sports Awards Banquet.

Taking top honors for the evening among the ATV standouts was Tim Farr, who earned ATVA Athlete of the Year honors.

Tommy Tantillo earned the ATVA Vet/Senior Athlete of the Year Award, and Traci Cecco was named ATVA Woman Rider of the Year.

Other winners included Victory Sports as ATVA Organizer of the Year, and Josh Upperman as ATVA Rider of the Year.

The stars of the Extreme Dirt Track ATVA Nationals, meanwhile, had their own separate banquet for the first time.

Held at the Marriott Airport Hotel in Columbus, Ohio, on October 28, dirt-track stars including Tim Farr, Harold Goodman, Michael Coburn, Daryl Rath and Shane Hitt enjoyed the festivities.

Others in attendance included Candace Lee, Bailey Williams and Kacee Frazier.

The top 10 riders in all the classes were summoned to the stage to receive their trophies and say a few words. Proud spouses and family members were able to take a lot of photos.

In addition, national No. 1 plate-holder Tim Farr conducted a seminar on racing technique, and members of the younger set were able to play ATV-related video games and swim in the pool.

Jeremiah Jones is the ATVA National Motocross Rider of the Year.

The 2006 ATVA National Motocross banquet was held November 11 in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. National Champ Joe Byrd, Pro/Am Unlimited and Production Champ Josh Upperman, Harold Goodman and Jeremiah Jones were among those on hand.

In special awards, Jeremiah Jones was named Rider of the Year, Adrienne Cooper was named Rookie of the Year, and Richard Lindsay earned the Youth Rider of the Year award.
