ATVA Western TT/Dirt Track Series Kicks Off
Riders from California, Arizona and Washington state converged on Tulare Cycle Park in Tulare, California, February 18 for the first round of the ATVA Western TT/Dirt Track Series.
Russell McWhorter made his Pro-Am debut with a second-place finish on his LRD YFZ450 behind local Pro favorite Frank Batista on his Patterson Racing/Curtis Sparks TRX450R. McWhorter also won the 450B Class. Curtis Sparks/Lone Star Racing rider Fred Easman took third place in the Pro-Am division.
The Pro class was very competitive. The Pros battled it out for 12 laps in the Pro Main. Patterson Racing rider Frank Batista won the Pro class with Kyle Evans finishing a close second on his B&B Racing YFZ450. John Candelaria of Bakersfield finished third.
The Youth classes provided some of the best racing of the day. Matthew Terra won the Production 90 class on his Grissom-powered LT80, Tyler Escoto finished second, while John Paul Neiswanger rounded out the top three.
In the Modified 90 class, Michael Newsome took the checkered on his B&B CR85-powered TRX90 with Terra and Escoto finishing second and third, respectively.
The next race will be March 4 in Lodi, California, at the famous Lodi Cycle Bowl. Then the competition moves to Surprise, Arizona, on March 18.
