Protest of MXer Joe Byrd's Fuel Rejected
Pro racer Joe Byrd (#7) was protested for alleged illegal fuel at the final round of the ATVA ITP/Moose Racing National Motocross Series in Bowling Green, Kentucky, September 2-3.
Byrd was protested to see if his fuel met the required specifications in the series supplemental rules. The rules specify a maximum allowable percentage of oxygen of 2.8 and a specific gravity between .700- .765.
Laboratory results showed Byrd's fuel met the specifications. The fuel tested at 2.67 percent oxygen and .0727 specific gravity.
Byrd was also tested at Round 10 of the series in Pell City, Alabama in July, and the results were the same.
