Keith Little Blitzes the Competition in Extreme Dirt Track in Pennsylvania
Keith Little (#12) of Russellville, Alabama, had his TRX450R Honda out front for another win in the seventh round of Extreme Dirt Track ATVA Nationals September 9-10.
Hetrick Racing owner Rich Hetrick chose Tri-City Raceway as a new track for the 2006 series and it was a big hit with the riders.
Hetrick and crew were very creative with the large infield of the half-mile clay oval, creating the first Extreme Dirt Track race with three separate split lane sections.
Racing started Saturday as scheduled, but was interrupted twice by rain. Most qualifiers were completed Saturday and main events were held on Sunday, which was cool, cloudy and perfect for good racing.
In the first Pro qualifier it was Tim Farr (#4) of Massillon, Ohio, pulling the holeshot. He wasn't challenged by second-place finisher Frank Batista (#13) of Riverdale, California.
For the second qualifier, it was Little finishing first and Daryl Rath (#67) of Hutchinson, Minnesota, taking second.
The last qualifier of the night was very exciting with Harold Goodman (#708) of Romulus, Michigan, leading Mitch Reynolds (#137) of Greenbrier, Arkansas, for the win. The 19-year-old Reynolds, in his first Pro race, challenged Goodman on every lap.
On Sunday afternoon the track was in excellent shape for the Pro main event.
As the engines roared to life and the light went green it was Batista, pulling the holeshot, with Rath, Little, Goodman and Farr, bunched up and charging hard and fast into turn one.
As they came around to be scored for lap one, it was Little, Batista, Farr, Rath and Goodman in the top five positions.
Farr passed Batista for second place and went to work on Little. As Little chose one line, Farr would take the other.
With
Little out front he focused on the fastest lines, stayed smooth and opened up
a big lead over Farr. Behind Farr, Goodman was working his way around traffic,
and Reynolds worked his way up as well, into fourth.
On
the podium it was Little, Farr and Goodman.
