Farr Extends his lead!
Tim Farr was blazing fast and untouchable on his Honda TRX450R at round six of the 2006 Extreme Dirt Track ATVA Nationals and left Dixieland Speedway with a 32-point lead in the series.
Round six, like all of the other Extreme Dirt Track races this season, experienced increased attendance of fans and greater participation by racers this year. The Pro class would require qualifiers and a last chance qualifier.
The fastest qualifier of the evening was lead by Farr, of Massillon, Ohio, with Zac Willett, of Henderson, Kentucky, finishing second. The second-fastest qualifier saw Darin Ogden of Dillionvale, Ohio, out front, followed closely by Keith Little, Russellville, Alabama. Qualifier number three was won by Chuckie Creech of Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
Former champ Shane Hitt of Buchannan, West Virginia, crashed in his qualifier and injured his neck and will more than likely miss the rest of the season.
The weather was hot and so was the racing action all day long. The track held together and was in excellent shape for the Pro Main event with 20 racers on the line.
When the starter flipped the light green, it was Harold Goodman grabbing the hole shot, with Farr challenging from the very start. Farr moved quickly on Goodman and took the lead.
The battle was for third. Creech was pressed hard at every opportunity by Little and Ogden. Little tried high, pushed down low and came alongside on every straight. Creech was feeling the pressure, but it was Little who bobbled and Ogden who benefited, as he was able to pass both Creech and Little.
Little
regrouped and quickly made up the lost ground, but his race ended as his engine
went up in smoke.
Farr was unchallenged for the full 20 laps, claiming an easy win. Goodman made his first appearance on the podium in second. Ogden claimed a well-earned third.
