Tim Farr Wins Extreme Dirt Track Race in Virginia
Tim Farr (#4) of Massillon, Ohio, grabbed the holeshot and led from start to finish on his Motosport Honda TRX450R at the fourth round of the Extreme Dirt Track ATVA Nationals in Ringgold, Virginia, July 8.
Rain plagued the first three rounds of the Extreme Dirt Track ATVA Nationals, but excellent weather and great racing was the norm at the Birch Creek track.
With the large number of Pro entries, three separate qualifiers were necessary to narrow the field down to 20 Pros for the main event.
In
qualifier number one, it was Farr leading the pack. Keith Little (#12) of
Russellville, Alabama, was tops in the second qualifier. The fastest in the
third qualifier was Harold Goodman (#708) of Romulus, Michigan.
Racers at Birch Creek turned some of the fastest lap times in the series. Farr’s qualifier was the fastest, giving him first pick on the line for the main event.
The main event was set with 20 of the fastest Extreme Dirt Track racers in the country.
Farr was first off the line and had a slight advantage as he charged into turn one. Little and Shane Hitt (#5) of Buckhannon, West Virginia, drag raced side by side down the front straight behind Farr.
The 20 laps of the main clicked off quickly. Lap traffic would come into play as Farr blazed around the track.
At
the checkered it was Farr first, Little second and Hitt in third with his first
trip to the podium this season.
The 2006 points battle is one of the closest we have seen in years. Farr leads with 85 points, Little has 76 and Goodman is at 59.
