Tim Farr was looking very fast in the Pro Class, but mother nature stopped them
all.
Amateurs had Fun, Pros Didn't at Illinois Extreme Dirt Track Race
Promoter Steve Nace built a new track at the South Fork Dirt Riders site to host it’s first ever Extreme Dirt Track ATVA National in Taylorville, Illinois, June 10-11.
The great track, excellent facility and friendly staff helped keep people's spirits high, especially on Saturday as a record numbers of Extreme Dirt Track racers were lining up to race. But mother nature was doing its best to slow and eventually bring racing to a stop.
This was some of the best amateur racing all year. Amateur classes were able to complete all of their qualifying heats and last-chance qualifiers.
The Pro and Pro-Am practice was completed in the afternoon and main events were started for amateurs, with Pro qualifiers mixed in. The amateur main events were completed in 13 of the 25 amateur classes, with a podium presentation as classes were completed.
Then, with everyone watching the rain coming down, racers were told to be at the track Sunday at 9 a.m. Just when it looked like the track was ready to take traffic, the rain started again and didn't let up, forcing the end of racing for the weekend.
The last 12 amateur classes were scored on the fastest qualifiers and LCQs. The Pro class received no scores because there was no LCQ, which made it impossible to give a finishing score for the Pro race.
Pro-Am riders weren't able to race a single race. This race won't count as a throw out for Pro-Am riders entered in this race. Goodman held on to second place. Kittle worked his way up to third, Hitt finished fourth and Rath fifth.
