Protest Against John Natalie Rejected
March 28, 2005 – At the third round of the ATVA/ITP/Moose Grand National Championship Motocross Series in Gainesville, Florida March 12-13, John Natalie (#13) aboard a Honda won the Pro class and was protested for possibly using illegal fuel.
Fuel samples were taken and sent to a laboratory for analysis on specific gravity and percentage of oxygen. The fuel rule for the GNC-MX series specifies a specific gravity of .700 - .765 at 60 degrees, results showed .71 on both samples. The percentage of oxygen allowed is 2.8 percent. Samples, tested at .49 and .50, well below the allowed limit.
It is easy for riders to find out if they are using legal fuel. If you are racing the GNC-MX series you need to read the 2005 Supplemental rules. The GNC series have been using the same fuel rule for the last eight years, which is different from AMA Sports Amateur racing fuel rules. If you would like a copy of the GNC-MX rules click here for the 82k pdf file.
Here is a list of VP fuels that meet the GNC rules: MR1, MR2 MRX01, MR8, MR9, MRPro2, MrPro4, Motorsport 98, Motorsport 100, Motorsport 105L,VP Red, VP Blue, TBX, C11, VP110, C12, C15, C16, C23, C23+, Late Model Plus, MX93, M8-1 and A-5. If you are using any other blend of VP fuel, it is NOT legal for the GNC series.
