Suzuki Eiger and Vinson, Polaris Sportsman 700 EFI ATVs recalled
December 14, 2004 – The federal Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the voluntary recall of 2004 and 2005 Suzuki Eiger and Vinson ATVs, as well as the Polaris 2004 Sportsman 700 EFI.
The Suzuki's are being recalled because they were assembled with an incorrectly sized mounting bolt under the fuel tank. This could result in a fuel leak that could present a fire hazard and risk of injury or death. There have been no reports of injuries.
The affected models are Eiger ATVs Lt-A400K4, LT-A400FK4, LT-F400K4, LT-F400K4, LT-F400FK4, Vinson ATVs KT-A500FK4, LT-F500FK4, Eiger ATVs LT-AF500FK5, LT-F500FK5.
About 27,000 of them were sold at Suzuki dealers from August 2, 2003 to August 26, 2004,
Consumers should take their affected ATV to an authorized Suzuki dealership. The dealer will replace the fuel petcock-mounting bolt and sealing washers at no charge.

Meanwhile, about 12,170 Polaris Sportsman 700 EFI ATVs are being voluntarily recalled.
The throttle cable may bind when the handlebars are turned full left or full right, that could cause an increase in engine speed and unintended vehicle acceleration. Also, the fuel line may rub the vehicle chassis, resulting in a fuel line leak that could be a fire hazard.
There have been 19 incidents involving the throttle cable binding, which caused the ATV to accelerate. There have been 31 incidents involving the gasoline fuel line rubbing against the chassis.
All 2004 Sportsman 700 EFI ATVs with model numbers A04CH68CU, A04CH68AU, A04CH68AP, and A04CH68AQ are part of this recall.
The quad was sold at Polaris dealers from March 2003 to August 2004.
