Honda unveils new versions of the Foreman for 2005

Sept. 10, 2004 – Honda officials introduced three new versions of their popular FourTrax Foreman ATVs at its dealer meeting in Nashville, Tennessee, Wednesday. All three come with what Honda calls new "SUV styling."

Honda says this new styling features "flowing fenders with integrated headlights and taillights for a rugged, adventurous look."

The standard Foreman comes with 2WD and an all-new 475cc OHV air-cooled engine. For 2005 the Foreman will be available in blue as well as red and olive. Suggested retail is $5,299.

The Foreman 4x4 and 4x4 ES each have Honda's TraxLok system—which enables a rider to change from 2WD operation to 4WD with the push of a switch. The 4x4 ES comes with Honda's Electric Shift Program (ESP), which allows the rider to upshift and downshift with the press of a button. Honda says this system isn't dependant on the battery. And if a rider chooses to manually shift an auxiliary shift lever is provided in the tool pouch.

Both the 4x4 and 4x4ES come with a new four-stroke 475cc OHV air-cooled longitudinally mounted engine that Honda says allows direct drive shaft alignment to both front and rear wheels for improved drive train efficiency. Plus, a torque-sensitive front differential reduces torque steer for less steering effort.

Suggested retail is $6,299 for the 4x4, and $6,499 for the 4x4 ES.

Other features shared by the standard Foreman and the 4x4 and 4x4ES include:

New dual front disc brake calipers that feature a patented built-in scraper system to remove mud and snow from inside the front wheel to help prevent build-up of debris between the caliper and rim to ensure consistent braking.

Brake pads that feature thick, long-wear material with improved mud durability, feel and control. The pads feature an internal scraper that gives an audible warning when pad life is low.

A new oil-cooling system that features dual oil coolers for greater cooling capacity.
