  • Arctic Cat recalls single-rider and 2up ATVs due to crash hazard

    This recall involves model year 2008 and 2009 Arctic Cat single-rider and 2 UP style ATVs. Single-rider ATVs have one seat and one set of footrests for the operator. 2 UP ATVs have an elongated seat designed to hold one passenger behind the operator, a set of hand-holds mounted to the rear frame for the passenger and two sets of footrests. The recalled ATVs came in a variety of colors and have the name Arctic Cat on each side of the fuel tank and on the front above the grill opening.

With points all tied up in the XC1 Pro and XC2 Pro Am classes, both National Championships will be a "winner-take-all" affair with only two hours of racing remaining in the season.

    A new guidebook will soon be available from the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC) that will benefit the entire OHV industry, titled “Great Trails – A Guide to Providing Quality OHV Trail Experiences.” It is being developed by NOHVCC, written by a core team of consultants, and funded by a wide range of OHV industry partners.

    In hot environments or high elevations, the fuel cap can fail to vent properly, causing the fuel to heat up and pressure to build up in the tank. The pressure can cause the fuel tank to rupture or the fuel to boil out of the tank onto the operator or hot engine, resulting in burns to the operator or a fire.

    It's that time of year again, where the Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship, sanctioned by AMA, honors its 2014 champions and celebrates the conclusion of a successful season of ATV Motocross competition. This year's Awards Banquet will take place Saturday, November 8, at the Morgantown Events Center-inside the Waterfront Place Hotel-in the heart of Morgantown, West Virginia. National Championship awards will be presented to the top 10 positions in all amateur classes, with sponsorship contingencies awarded to the top five.

N-Fab AmPro Yamaha's Walker Fowler captured his fourth overall victory in the last five rounds, bringing himself within five points of Chris Borich's National Championship lead with only two rounds remaining in 2014. In the XC2 Pro Am class, SICC Racing/Maxxis-backed Marshal Goings made his return to the center of the podium, gaining valuable championship points on leader Cole Richardson with only a five-point separation in the standings.

    Young riders across America used their creativity and video skills to produce public service announcements for a chance to win a total of $8,500 in this year's Do the Ride Thing competition. Fifteen-year-old Elizabeth Klumpp of Edmond, Okla., won the $2,500 Grand Prize in the fifth annual contest to promote safe and responsible riding, sponsored by the ATV Safety Institute, Motorcycle Safety Foundation and Right Rider Access Fund. This is Klumpp’s fourth year participating in the contest. Her winning video is specifically for moms, dads and grandparents, and emphasizes the importance of supervising youth ATV riders: supervisors really do hold the keys to ATV safety.
